    You gotta love Greg Adams. The man has ambition. And genius. While he could sit on his formidable accomplishments as the architect of iconic horn arrangements he instead chooses to explore new territory and create new sounds. \u201cEast Bay Soul \u2013 That\u2019s Life\u201d is his seventh full-length CD, third with the EBS stable of world-class musical friends, and it\u2019s his best.<\/p>\n

    There\u2019s plenty of red meat for devotees of Adams\u2019 horn funk \u2013 the opener \u201cLittle Black Dress\u201d contains earworms of horn funk and driving grooves. The signature Adam\u2019s muted jazz trumpet is front and center on several beautifully arranged smooth jazz songs.<\/p>\n

    But it\u2019s the strings\u2026 oh my goodness\u2026 that orchestra\u2026 that takes the sound up to another level of beauty and sophistication. \u201cGoing in Circles\u201d is an homage to the great R&B orchestral sounds while \u201cDamned if You Do\u201d is just plain huge \u2013 Adams does for strings what he\u2019s long done for horns \u2013 taking you in unexpected but delightful directions.<\/p>\n

    The musicians of EBS are the best in the business \u2013 Google any band member and marvel at their individual accomplishments. EBS That\u2019s Life is the dream team in action.<\/p>\n

    Addictive listening. Highly recommended.<\/p>\n
